Charles grew up in the home town of the Masters Tournament and was a member of Augusta Country Club, which is adjacent to Amen Corner at Augusta National Golf Club. "I started playing golf at 7, but at the time, I also played soccer (but let me stress that it was not of World Cup quality)," says Charles. "My next door neighbor, Graham Hill, who I am still friends with today, introduced me to the game. We started playing with whiffle balls in the back yard, and then throughout the neighborhood, and then finally to the driving range. The first fact that golf was an individual sport attracted me to the game; I loved the fact that I was responsible for everything - the good and the bad, and thus I would get all the credit or all the blame. I think I liked (and still do) the responsibility of that, and the ultimate fact that I can not hid behind a team mate."

"Growing up in Augusta made it very easy to play and ultimately fall in love with the game of golf. Although, in Augusta golf is not a game, it is life! I have one brother, Ben, who is 4 years younger than myself. We are very close, but do not share the same interests...he loves the outdoors--hunting, fishing, and lives on a beautiful farm in South Georgia."

"Growing up, I attended Westminster Preparatory School. It is a Christian school and provided me with a fantastic base in schooling as well as friends. It actually made the school part of Oklahoma State quite easy!!"

"For college, I attended Oklahoma State University. It was an easy decision for me in that it is the #1 golf program in the country. In fact, that was proven again this year by them winning another NCAA Championship! Our team was fortunate enough to win the NCAA Championship in 2000 and that is a memory that will always be with me! I really enjoyed playing for Coach Holder, who is now the Athletic Director at OSU. He instilled a work ethic in me that I will always have! He thought for sure that you get out of something what you put into it! And I must say, that of all people I have met throughout my life, none can put a fear in you quite like he could!"

"While in school, I majored in Business Management. Although I always wanted to play golf, I have an interest in the stock market and investing, and I am sure that if I didn't play golf, I would be somewhere on Wall Street today!"

"After my professional golf days are over, I would love to stay involved in the game. I have an interest in course design, but I surely have a respect for the difficulty of it as well! Over the years, I have grown to have a lot of respect for the top course designers! It is something that I would love to learn and study!
